HORSE LEATHER ENGINEER BOOTS DERBY EG-2 #3 LEATHER SOLES PIECE DYEDAn American-inspired derby featuring a distinctive side-belt detail that gives the design a strong individual character.
The belt is carefully positioned to create a balanced profile when viewed from the side, adding definition without disturbing the overall shape. Its placement becomes an important part of the design, giving the model a recognizable and restrained expression.
In this version, the lead-grey tone sits between black and white, creating a subtle and distinctive balance that enhances the depth and texture of the horse leather. The tonal variations created through piece dyeing add richness to the surface while allowing the structure of the upper and the side-belt detail to stand out naturally.
Materials & Craftsmanship
This footwear is made from vegetable-tanned horse leather with a thickness of approximately 1.3–1.5 mm.
The leather is first oiled to prepare it for dyeing. After the shoes have been constructed, they undergo the piece-dyeing process, followed by a slow period of natural drying.
During drying, each pair is carefully reshaped and adjusted by hand to restore the intended proportions and fit.
Once completely dry, the leather is oiled and polished by hand, bringing out its depth, natural texture, and individual character.
The combination of vegetable-tanned horse leather and piece dyeing creates subtle variations in color and surface from pair to pair. With wear, the leather gradually develops greater depth and a character unique to the wearer.
All finishing processes are carried out in-house and by hand.
