Materials & Craftsmanship
This garment is made from vegetable-tanned horse leather. The leather is first oiled to prepare it for dyeing, then piece-dyed in a rotating drum after the garment has been sewn.
Because horse leather tends to shrink irregularly during dyeing, each area of the hide is carefully assessed before cutting to determine the most suitable placement for each pattern piece.
After piece dyeing, the garment is left to dry naturally over an extended period, while its shape and dimensions are adjusted by hand. Once completely dry, it is oiled and polished.
All of these processes are carried out in-house and by hand.
